The 1991 Academy Award Winner for Best Original Screenplay: Callie Khouri

Why It Matters: Callie Khouri was the first woman to win Best Original Screenplay without a male co-writer. She is one of only seven women to ever win for Best Original Screenplay. Out of 101 winners in the category, only seven women have EVER won.
